Sykt Tuft
NOK 3,5003 evenings/days (~10 hours)
A three-evening, roughly ten-hour tufting course run by artist Johanna Warberg under the 'Sykt Tuft' (School of RUG) name, held regularly in Stavanger's Tasta district and occasionally touring other Norwegian cities. Participants use a real tufting gun to design, tuft, glue, and trim their own rug of about 55x60cm, with equipment and most materials included aside from yarn, which guests bring themselves.
It costs NOK 3,500. Most include the gun, cloth and yarn. Check each studio's page for what is included before you book.
The studios listed in Norway do not advertise a beginner session. Ask them, or look at nearby cities on the map.
A simple design with a few big shapes, closed-toe shoes, and your booking confirmation. The studio brings the gun, the frame, the yarn and the glue — unless the card says to bring yarn. Send the design a day or two ahead when they ask.
Pick a city here, open the studio, and choose a date there. You pay the studio directly. If a date is listed, it was still ahead when we checked. Confirm it on their site before you pay.
